Gather

Privacy Policy

Effective 21 October 2026

Gather explains errors inside VS Code and Chrome DevTools. It sends the error and selected debugging context to Gather only while you use it. We do not sell that information or use it to train a model without your separate consent.

Information Gather processes

When Gather is enabled and an error is captured, it may process the error message and stack trace, nearby console output, HTTP error details, and limited source excerpts around the reported location. The Chrome extension can also use available source maps. Gather does not upload whole projects, inspect runtime variables, or collect browser history.

Gather also processes account identifiers needed for sign-in, plan and usage information, and payment status. Payments are handled by Paystack; Gather does not store card numbers, CVV values, or card authorization tokens.

How we use information

We use debugging context to produce the explanation you requested, operate and secure the service, enforce plan limits, process subscriptions, and provide support. The inference provider may process the context to generate an explanation. Gather currently uses Together AI for hosted inference.

Feedback and improving Gather

Feedback is optional. If you choose to send it, Gather stores the error context, explanation, your rating, and any correction or tested fix you provide. Feedback records are retained for up to 30 days, then deleted from the active database. Backup copies expire under the backup-retention schedule.

Feedback is reviewed to improve prompts, context collection, and evaluation. It is not automatically used to train or fine-tune a model. Gather will ask for separate consent before any submitted example is used in a training dataset.

Service providers

Gather uses Amazon Web Services for hosting, authentication, and database storage; Together AI for hosted model inference; and Paystack for payments. These providers process information only to provide their services to Gather, subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Gather's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data safeguards

Gather applies best-effort filtering for common credentials and personal details before sending or storing debugging context. Filtering cannot guarantee removal of every secret or sensitive value. Only enable Gather for code and logs you are permitted to share.

Your choices

Children

Gather is for developers and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Gather changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date.
